MEXICO: Boosting ties with Cuba

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has maintained close relations with Cuba throughout his presidency. A series of meetings between Mexican and Cuban officials in May has led to plans for Mexico to receive more Cuban doctors and for increased bilateral collaboration on migration. The meetings also come amid reports that Mexico is selling oil to Cuba – a development that is unlikely to please the US.
