*Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released its monthly index of economic activity (Imacec) for April, which shows a yearly increase of 3.5% but a decline of 0.3% compared to the previous month. This follows annual growth of 0.5% in March when economic activity contracted 0.6% in monthly terms. The monthly result in April was driven by contractions in mining (-2.4%) and trade (-1.4%). However other goods and industry posted increases of 0.3% and 0.9% respectively.
