In brief: Disruption resolved at Peru’s main airport

*Peru’s transport & communications ministry has announced that operations have resumed at Lima’s Jorge Chávez international airport following a failure of runway lights that forced flight diversions and cancellations. According to the local media, 215 flights were cancelled as a result of the disruption. Transport & Communications Minister Raúl Pérez Reyes said that operations would have been resumed sooner if a second runway and control tower were operational; the airport’s operator, Lima Airport Partners (LAP), is currently changing the glass in the control tower after air traffic controllers experienced visibility issues.
