BOLIVIA: Electoral court gives boost to Morales in MAS power struggle

The struggle between Bolivia’s President Luis Arce and former president Evo Morales (2006-2019) for control of the ruling left-wing Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) – and, more importantly, for the party’s nomination in the 2025 presidential election – has tilted back in Morales’ favour. On 23 May the supreme electoral court (TSE) ruled that Morales is still the leader of the MAS, annulling the decisions taken at a disputed party congress organised by Arce loyalists [WR-24-18].
