*Argentina’s President Javier Milei has met with CEOs of top US tech companies, including Tim Cook (Apple), Sundar Pichai (Google), and Sam Altman (OpenAI), during a visit to the US which is taking place from 28-31 May. Today (30 May) the right-wing libertarian president is due to meet Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of tech company Meta. According to a press release by his office, Milei is heading up a delegation which includes Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Argentina’s ambassador to the US, Gerardo Werthein. It adds that in his meeting with Pichai, for example, Milei presented his “vision regarding Argentina’s future and the importance of a regulatory framework that promotes innovation and investment” and during the meeting, those present discussed “various potential projects of collaboration focussed on the development of digital infrastructure and technology training for the public”. It adds that Milei also spoke at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, a think tank which promotes limited government, where he met the think tank’s director, former US Secretary of State (2005-2009) Condoleezza Rice.
