PERU: Arrest of Boluarte’s brother raises the heat
Peruvian prosecutors moved against President Dina Boluarte’s brother, Wigberto Nicanor Boluarte, on 10 May, arresting him at his home in Lima on influence peddling charges. On the same day, the attorney general’s office expanded its investigation into President Boluarte, adding obstruction of justice to the list of her alleged offences. This owed to her dissolution the previous day of the police team that supports the special anti-corruption task force (Eficcop) in the attorney general’s office.
