In brief: Peru lowers interest rates

*Peru’s central bank (BCRP) has lowered its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 5.75%. In a statement explaining its decision, the BCRP noted that monthly inflation in April was -0.05%, bringing the annual inflation rate to 2.4% – down from 3.0% in March. This is within the bank’s 1-3% target range. The BCRP maintained its 12-month inflation forecast at 2.6%.
