Amid long-running concerns of excessive use of force by Brazilian police, the supreme court (STF) has heard a case regarding deaths or injuries from stray bullets. On 11 April the STF concluded the case, ruling that state authorities should compensate the innocent victims wounded or families of casualties killed during operations carried out by the armed forces or military police.
