*Argentina’s embattled automobile manufacturing sector has produced 103,293 vehicles in the first quarter of 2024, a 23.2% reduction compared with the same period in 2023, according to the Asociación de Fábricas de Automotores (Adefa) automakers association. In March, 43,159 vehicles were produced, a 29.4% reduction year-on-year but a figure 15.1% higher than in February this year. Exports in Q1 totalled 62,370 units, a 7.9% drop on last year. Adefa president Martín Zuppi noted that the industry is facing challenges and waiting for economic measures taken by the government to help recovery, and that meanwhile, “we must redouble our efforts to have the tools that allow us to have a good level of activity.”
