BOLIVIA | First biodiesel plant inaugurated. Bolivia’s President Luis Arce inaugurated the country’s first biodiesel plant in the eastern city of Santa Cruz on 26 March, designed to help the country reduce its dependency on fuel imports. The state hydrocarbons company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), which owns the plant, has previously said that the new facility would produce around 1,500 barrels of fuel per day (bpd), with the potential to reach 2,000 bpd.
