Ecuador’s President Daniel Noboa is facing the first major corruption scandal of his presidency, after the son of Vice President Verónica Abad was arrested and charged with influence peddling. The unusual relationship between Noboa and Abad could shield the president from some of the political fallout and could even benefit him in his efforts to sideline his vice president.
