The former commander of the Brazilian army, Marco Antônio Freire Gomes, testified as a witness to the federal police (PF) on 1 March as part of the investigations into an alleged plot for a military coup to overturn the 2022 election defeat of former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023).
