*The Dominican Republic’s central bank (BCRD) has released new figures which show that the country’s monthly index of economic activity (IMAE) was up 4.7% year-on-year in December 2023, which it said was the highest annual growth for a month last year. It said that this growth rate brings the rate for 2023 to 2.4%, which it said was in line with BCRD forecasts and above the 2.2% forecast by World Bank made this month. In its report, the BCRD highlights the economy’s quickening growth rate, pointing out that in the final quarter of 2023, growth was 4.2% year-on-year, up from 2.6% in the previous quarter and 3.3% in the same quarter in 2022.
