*Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has updated its IBC-Br economic activity index (used as a proxy to anticipate GDP figures), registering a 0.01% monthly increase in November and a 2.19% yearly increase. Accumulated economic activity in the 12 months until November 2023 saw a 2.31% rise from the previous 12-month period. Whilst there was only a slight monthly rise in November, this positive IBC-Br figure comes after monthly decreases were registered in August-October. Earlier this month the national statistics institute (Ibge) had reported slight monthly growth in November for some economic sectors, registering positive figures for industrial production (+0.5%) and the volume of services (+0.4%).
