In brief: Honduras’ trade drops

*Honduras’ central bank (BCH) has released new figures which show the country’s exports in the first 11 months of 2023 totalled US$10.59bn, down 7.6% on the same period in 2022. Meanwhile imports totalled US$17.83bn, down 6.8% on 2022. The 2023 figures leave a trade deficit of US$7.23bn, down 5.7% on 2022. According to the same BCH report, the US remains Honduras’ main trading partner, buying Honduran exports totalling US$5.42bn (including clothing, automotive wiring harnesses, bananas, coffee, and precious metals), and providing US$6.25bn of imports (fuel, textiles, machinery and electric equipment, and yellow corn).
