In brief: Nicaragua’s annual inflation edges down

*The latest figures from Nicaragua’s national institute of development information (Inide) show that the monthly inflation rate in December was 1.57%, bringing the annual rate to 5.60%. The monthly rate is up from 0.34% in November when the annual rate was 5.65%.  According to Inide, the monthly rate was driven by recreation & culture (+11.24%) as well as food & non-alcoholic beverages (+2.69%) and restaurants & hotels (+0.80%), while transport and communications both registered declines of (-0.06%) and (-0.04%) respectively.
