MEXICO: Journalists under threat

Local and international press freedom organisations raised alarm bells in Mexico following the shooting of five journalists in two separate incidents in Michoacán and Guerrero states on 28 November. The incidents, which formed part of a spate of violent attacks on journalists in the latter half of the month, served as a reminder of the dangers facing media workers in Mexico – particularly those operating in states beset by drug trafficking-related violence.
