In brief: Uruguay’s annual inflation continues to inch up

* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released consumer price index (IPC) figures for December, indicating that monthly inflation was -0.11%, bringing the accumulated inflation rate for the 12 months up to December to 5.11%. In comparison, the monthly inflation rate in November was 0.34% while the annual inflation rate stood at 4.96%. Key contributors to the monthly rate include food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.25%), housing (-0.39%), and transport (-0.11%). The annual inflation rate remains within the government’s target range of 3%-6% for 2023 and 2024.
