In brief: Inflation rises in Bolivia

*Bolivia’s national statistics institute (INE) has announced that the monthly inflation rate in December was 0.63%, bringing the annual rate to 2.12%. Both the monthly and annual rates were up compared with November, when monthly inflation was -0.03% and annual inflation was 1.59%. Monthly inflation in December was driven primarily by price increases for inter-departmental bus travel (+49.54%), carrots (+22.15%), and onions (+8.35%). Products and services which saw a drop in prices in December included electricity (-0.73%), eggs (-2.26%), and corn (-8.18%).
