In brief: Argentina gov’t warns of high December inflation

*Argentina’s presidential spokesperson, Manuel Adorni, has said that monthly inflation in December could reach 30%. He made his comments in a press conference in response to a question posed by a reporter regarding studies showing monthly inflation approaching that level. Adorni said “We still don't have the official data, but we understand that the figure was around the one to which you are referring”. At the start of the year, national daily Clarín, which notes that the official inflation rate for December will be released on 11 January, cited experts as estimating that the 2023 could close with inflation of between 210-220% which it says would be the highest since 1990.
