*Peru’s investment promotion agency (Proinversión) has announced that in 2024 it plans to award a record 40 investment contracts for public-private partnerships (APP in the Spanish acronym), for a total of US$8bn. Proinversión stated that it awarded 14 contracts in 2023 for a total of US$2.3bn, which it said was the largest amount in the past five years. The 40 investment contracts earmarked for 2024 include railways, port terminals, electricity projects, and roadbuilding, among other things, with Proinversión’s director, José Salardi, describing the target as “ambitious but attainable”.
