In brief: Unemployment drops in Argentina

*Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has published employment data for the third quarter of 2023, revealing that the unemployment rate among the economically active population, which includes individuals over the age of 14 who are either employed or actively seeking employment, is 5.7%. This represents a drop of 0.5 percentage points on the 6.2% unemployment rate recorded in the second quarter of this year, and is down from the 7.1% unemployment rate registered in the same quarter of 2022. The regions of the greater Buenos Aires and the Pampas recorded the highest unemployment rates, at 6.2% and 6.1% respectively, while the lowest unemployment rate was in the Noroeste region at 3.6%.
