In brief: Argentina’s tax take up in November

*Argentina’s federal tax authority (Afip) has announced that tax take in November equalled Ar$4.68trn (US$12.9bn), an increase of 139.5% compared to the same month of 2022. This was also up 4% on tax take in October, which equalled Ar$4.5trn. On social media Afip’s federal administrator Carlos Castagneto noted that the taxes that had year-on-year increases above the monthly average collection included PAIS tax, which applies to the direct or indirect purchase of foreign currency (+600.6%); personal property tax (+365.5%); credits and debits to bank accounts (+175.8%); value-added tax (VAT) (+171.6%); and social security (+141.2%).
