* The Receita Federal do Brasil (RFB), the tax authority tied to Brazil’s finance ministry, has released the figures for federal revenue in October, showing a total monthly revenue of R$215.60bn (US$44bn), up from the R$174.32bn registered the previous month and from the R$205.48bn in October 2022. The accumulated revenue from January to October came to R$1.91trn, up from the R$1.84trn in the first ten months of last year. At a press conference RFB officials attributed the yearly increase in October’s tax take to several factors, including a rise in sales which has contributed to higher revenue from the Cofins federal consumption tax. The RFB also highlighted changes in fuel taxes and tax-related legislation.
