In brief: Mexico hails rise in foreign tourism revenue

* Mexico’s tourism minister, Miguel Torruco, has stated that the country received US$22.91bn from foreign tourism receipts in the first nine months of 2023, up 11.8% on the same period in 2022. The January-September 2023 figure represents a 23.3% increase on the same period in 2019, prior to the onset of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic which struck in March 2020. According to Torruco, 30.87m international tourists entered Mexico in the first nine months of 2023, up 12.1% on the same period in 2022. Of the 30.87m, 16.78m arrived via air, up 8.1% on the first nine months of 2022.
