* Brazil’s ministry of industry & commerce has released its latest figures for the country’s trade balance, which showed a monthly surplus of US$8.96bn. Exports totalled US$29.48bn and imports totalled US$20.53bn. The accumulated trade surplus for the first ten months of 2023 came to US$80.21bn, which is the highest surplus on record for this period. However, some sectors saw a drop in average daily export value compared to October 2022. Agricultural exports decreased by US$7.91m (-2.5%) year-on-year, while the average daily export value for manufactured goods decreased by US$74.22 (-9.1%) compared to last October. Extractive industries registered a year-on-year increase in October 2023, with a rise in average daily export value of US$72.43m (+26.4%).
