In brief: GDP growth up in Mexico

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its estimation of quarterly GDP growth, showing an increase of 0.9% in real terms in the third quarter of 2023 as compared to the previous quarter. In quarterly terms, the GDP of primary activities (agriculture) advanced 3.2%, while secondary activities (manufacturing) grew by 1.4%, and tertiary activities (services) by 0.6%. Inegi reported that, in annual terms, GDP increased by 3.3% as compared to the third quarter of 2022, with activities in the primary sector up 5.3%, the secondary sector up 4.5%, and the tertiary sector up 2.5%. GDP over the first nine months of 2023 was up by 3.5% compared with the same period last year.
