PANAMA: Unrest escalates over new mining contract

On 24 October thousands of people took to the streets in Panama City and other provinces in a second day of protests against a new contract between the government led by President Laurentino Cortizo and Minera Panamá S.A. (MPSA), the subsidiary of Canadian mining company First Quantum Minerals (FQM) regarding copper mine Cobre Panamá.
