* Brazil’s foreign ministry (Itamaraty) has announced that Algeria has opened its market to Brazilian chicken meat imports, following negotiations between the two countries that saw the revision of phytosanitary protocols. According to Itamaraty, Brazil is the world’s second largest producer of chicken meat, with 36% of production destined for export. In 2022 Brazil exported US$9.52bn of chicken to 170 markets, with the largest export markets being China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
