In brief: Mexico’s inflation continues to slow

* Mexico’s national statistics institute’s (Inegi) has released the consumer price index (INPC) for September which shows that monthly inflation was 0.44%. According to Inegi, annual inflation stood at 4.45% in September. This compares to monthly inflation of 0.55% and annual inflation of 4.64% in August and monthly inflation of 0.48% and annual inflation of 4.79% in July. Core inflation, which excludes some highly volatile items, showed a monthly increase of 0.36% and an annual increase of 5.76%. Prices of goods increased by 0.31% in monthly terms, while services increased by 0.43%. Non-core inflation had a monthly variation of 0.70% and an annual variation of 0.60%. Prices of agricultural products increased by 0.84% in monthly terms, and energy prices and government-authorized tariffs by 0.57%.
