BRAZIL: Rio police raid favelas amid anti-gang push
On 9 October a deployment of around 1,000 personnel from the civil and military police forces of Rio de Janeiro state, in the southeast of Brazil, raided three favela communities where powerful drug-trafficking organisations (DTOs) are known to operate – Maré, Cidade de Deus, and Vila Cruzeiro.
