ECUADOR: González falls short in televised debate
For Luisa González, the candidate for the left-wing Revolución Ciudadana (RC) in the second round of Ecuador’s presidential election on 15 October, time is running out to haul in Daniel Noboa, of the centre-right Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN). The televised debate between the two candidates on 2 October offered perhaps the final chance for González to erode Noboa’s poll lead. But the debate produced no clear victor, and Noboa remains the favourite to win the election as the candidates go into the final week of campaigning.
