In brief: Brazil sees record agricultural exports in August

* Brazil’s agriculture ministry has released the latest figures for agricultural exports, which showed that the country's exports totalled US$15.63bn in August, with agricultural products accounting for 50.4% of Brazil’s total monthly export value. This latest agricultural export value is the highest figure on record for the month of August and marks a 6.6% increase compared to August 2022. The agriculture ministry attributed this high export value to the record grain harvest registered for the 2022/2023 cycle and to favourable international food prices. Maize exports reached a record volume for the month of August, registering 9.33m tonnes (t) and an export value of US$2.21bn. Soy products also saw strong export figures. Soybeans reached a record export volume and value for August, registering 8.39m t with a value of US$4.19bn. Soymeal exports saw a record volume of US$2.41m t, with a value of US$1.19bn.
