* Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has signed a draft bill known as the Projeto de Lei do Programa Combustível do Futuro, aimed at creating regulations to promote the use of renewable biofuels such as biodiesel and ethanol. The bill proposes changing the maximum and minimum limits of anhydrous ethanol in gasoline sold to consumers. The ethanol content of gasoline is currently set between 18% to 27.5%, but the bill would increase it to a minimum of 22% and maximum of 30%. Another provision of the bill would create new regulations obliging airline operators to gradually adopt more biofuels for aircraft, aiming to reduce the carbon emissions of airline operators by at least 10% by 2037.
