* Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro, who is currently on a tour of China, has announced a new partnership between Venezuela’s special economic zones (SEZs) and the Chinese cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen and the province of Shandong. According to a statement from Venezuela’s foreign ministry, deputy science and technology minister Gabriela Jiménez will oversee “projects for partnership and shared development” with Shenzhen, oil minister Pedro Tellechea will be responsible for partnership with Shanghai, and agriculture minister Wilmar Castro Soteldo will oversee relations with Shandong. Maduro said that these ministers will lead a delegation to China in the coming weeks to “carry out business roundtables and obtain investment and economic transfers for Venezuela”.
