The political situation, in effect, makes it difficult for the Democratic Party administration of President Joe Biden to fully confront the fentanyl problem. At a formal level the administration is pursuing various initiatives, but Mexico’s less than whole-hearted commitment raises doubts as to their ability to succeed.
