* Mexico’s umbrella business association, Consejo Coordinador Empresarial (CCE) has held a meeting with Claudia Sheinbaum, former Mexico City (CDMX) mayor (2018-2023) and one of the 2024 presidential pre-candidates for the ruling Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena). According to the CCE, the meeting addressed issues of national relevance, including investment, security, energy, infrastructure, and sustainability. On social media, Sheinbaum thanked the CCE for inviting her to the meeting and for the opportunity to discuss her work as CDMX mayor as well as “the present and future of Mexico”. Polls currently show Sheinbaum as the favourite to become Morena’s 2024 candidate, with the results of the internal selection process to be announced on 6 September.
