Mexico’s opposition Frente Amplio por México (FAM) – the rebranded Va por México coalition – has announced the three final pre-candidates who will compete to be its 2024 presidential candidate. The process so far, in which – for legal reasons – pre-candidates are officially competing to become the FAM’s national coordinator, has succeeded in raising the profile of the opposition’s potential presidential contenders and ensured not all the limelight has remained on the so-called ‘corcholatas’, or pre-candidates for the ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena).
