VENEZUELA: Electoral intimidation continues

The Venezuelan opposition presidential pre-candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski denounced an attack on a political rally in the western state of Apure on 15 August, which he said had left 39 of his supporters injured. The attack, which he said was carried out by the colectivos who act as social enforcers for President Nicolás Maduro’s government, comes amid a deteriorating political climate that has seen at least two opposition candidates receive death threats.
