MEXICO: Gov’t completes purchase of former flag carrier airline
On 10 July, Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed that the government had acquired Mexicana de Aviación airline. The country’s oldest airline, Mexicana was founded in 1921 and privatised in 2005. However, it went bankrupt in 2010 due to financial problems and a debt of more than US$800m.
