BOLIVIA: Resource nationalism in rhetoric only as Arce looks east

Bolivia’s President Luis Arce declared on 6 August that the country’s natural resources are “threatened by external ambitions”, claiming that foreign powers are coveting Bolivia’s reserves of lithium and natural gas. These claims came as the Arce administration is mounting a concerted effort to secure investment in lithium mining from allies China and Russia.
