EL SALVADOR: Bukele throws a security cordon around Cabañas

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele announced on 1 August that a task force of 7,000 soldiers and 1,000 police had been sent in to enforce road checkpoints casting a security cordon around the central department of Cabañas, with the aim of surrounding and capturing members of the country’s two main gangs, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) and Barrio 18 (M-18).
