In brief: Mexico’s GDP grows for sixth consecutive quarter

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures on its quarterly estimation of GDP growth, showing that economic activity increased by 0.9% in the second quarter of 2023, as compared to the previous quarter. This represents the sixth consecutive quarter of growth. In the second quarter of 2023, activities in the tertiary sector (services) grew by 1% as compared to the previous quarter, while those in both the secondary sector (manufacturing) and in the primary sector (agriculture) increased by 0.8%. In annual terms, Inegi estimates that GDP rose by 3.6% in the second quarter of 2023, with activities in the tertiary sector up 4.1%, activities in the primary sector up 2.5% and those in the secondary sector increasing by 2.6%.
