REGION: Little progress in LGBTI rights
Marches took place across Central America in June to mark Pride Month for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community, including well-attended events in Costa Rica and El Salvador. However, many activists and human rights groups highlight that considerable work remains to be done in terms of improving LGBTI rights across the region. Violence against individuals from the LGBTI community in the region is still widespread and there has been a lack of progress regarding legislation to promote the rights of the community.
