In brief: Chile’s annual inflation falls again

* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures which showed that monthly inflation in June fell by 0.2%, while yearly inflation stood at 7.6%. This compares to monthly inflation of 0.1% in May, when yearly inflation stood at 8.7%. The INE noted that seven of the 12 categories making up the consumer price index (CPI) basket registered price decreases in June, highlighting clothing & shoes (-2.4%), and transport (-0.4%). Among categories to register price increases were food & non-alcoholic drinks (+0.3%), alcoholic drinks & tobacco (+0.3%), and restaurants & hotels (+0.4%).
