In brief: UN study shows extent of food insecurity in Colombia

* A study carried out by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and published by Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has calculated that 28.1% of Colombian households were living in a situation of food insecurity in 2022. Severe food insecurity affected 4.9% of the population. Rates of food insecurity were highest in the departments of La Guajira (59.7%), Sucre (47.9%), Atlántico (46.1%), Magdalena (45.3%), and Chocó (43.2%).
