* Argentina’s cargo and freight transport employers’ federation (Fadeeac) and one of its member organisations, the Jujuy chamber of motor freight transportation (Cajutac), have expressed concern over the situation in the north-western province of Jujuy, where violence erupted in response to reforms made to the provincial constitution on 20 June. Fadeeac and Cajutac called for the parties involved to find “a prompt solution to the conflict”, which they state has resulted in the blockading of some provincial, national and international routes, causing complications for international trade, producing the risk of supply shortages for affected communities, and having “a direct impact on the cargo transportation workers who are stranded without the minimum humanitarian conditions.” The associations stated they had managed to negotiate “a system of intermittent cuts” in some sectors, meaning the passage of vehicles is permitted for 20 minutes of every hour. Fadeead noted that about 800 trucks transit through Jujuy every day to carry out national and international transportation.
