BRAZIL: Economic growth prospects improve

Brazil’s central bank (BCB) is looking more upbeat about the country’s economic growth prospects, a view shared by the international credit ratings agency S&P. Their optimistic outlooks are based on several factors, but both organisations had previously highlighted the importance of the government’s proposed legislation for a new fiscal discipline framework, the main text of which was approved by the senate on 21 June, overcoming another hurdle towards the bill’s approval.
