MEXICO: Guilty García Luna
The verdict is in on Mexico’s former top security official Genaro García Luna. On 21 February, 12 jurors in New York found García Luna guilty of accepting millions of dollars in bribes from the Sinaloa drug trafficking organisation (DTO) while holding official positions. The conviction consolidates the fall from grace of a once-celebrated law enforcement official. Given the wide-ranging webs of corruption revealed during the trial, the question now is: who will fall next?
