*Mexico’s labour (STPS) and economy ministries have published a decree establishing a mechanism to limit the entry of goods produced with the total or partial use of forced or obligatory labour, including forced child labour. According to a government statement, this reinforces Mexico’s fight to eradicate forced labour from global supply chains and honours commitments made in the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) on regional trade. Under the mechanism, the STPS will receive, analyse and attend to requests concerning goods that were allegedly produced using forced labour and, if verified, will restrict imports of such goods. The agreement will enter into force 90 calendar days from the decree’s publication.
